As we continue to expand, we are seeking a visionary Director of Construction to lead operations and elevate project performance across the board.

Position Overview
The Director of Construction will be responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all construction operations within SEG. This includes developing strategic plans, managing field execution, maintaining financial oversight, and ensuring exceptional quality and compliance. The successful candidate will bring a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and client focus to deliver exceptional results across all projects.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
  • Develop and implement long- and short-term strategic plans to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
  • Set departmental goals, prioritize initiatives, and allocate resources accordingly.
Business Development & Marketing
  • Represent SEG in business development efforts, particularly within the Design-Build sector.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with developers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify and secure new project opportunities.
  • Drive repeat business by ensuring exceptional client satisfaction.
Field Project Management
  • Oversee multiple active construction sites, ensuring adherence to quality, schedule, and budget targets.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and consultants to deliver project success.
Estimating & Preconstruction
  • Lead the estimating team in preparing competitive and accurate bids, conceptual budgets, and project proposals.
  • Ensure alignment between design intent and budget constraints in Design-Build projects.
Budget and Cost Management
  • Monitor and manage project budgets and departmental expenditures.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements across all phases of construction.
  • Approve key financial decisions, including subcontractor negotiations and vendor contracts.
Quality Assurance
  • Implement and uphold strict quality control measures throughout all project phases.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, contract documents, and industry standards.
Risk Management
  • Proactively identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Resolve challenges swiftly to minimize impact on schedule, cost, or client satisfaction.
Team Leadership
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams across the organization.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance work environment.
  • Mentor and develop talent to strengthen the department’s long-term capabilities.
Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure transparent and timely communication on project progress, challenges, and outcomes.
Contract Negotiation
  • Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Ensure contracts support project goals and protect the interests of SEG.
Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
  • Stay informed of government regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Ensure all construction operations comply with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Work with federal clients and maintain eligibility for GSA Security Clearance.
Continuous Improvement
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Implement new tools, technologies, and best practices to improve performance and efficiency.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10–15 years of progressively responsible experience in construction management, including experience with Design-Build, Construction Management, and Negotiated/Lump Sum contracts.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project).
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and regulations.
  • Ability to obtain GSA Security Clearance.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Working Conditions
  • Combination of office-based work and field/site visits.
  • Travel to project sites required.
  • Occasional work outside of regular business hours may be necessary to oversee critical project milestones or address time-sensitive issues.
