Concrete Superintendent - Construction
SEG’s Concrete Superintendent is responsible for managing and directing the day-to-day field operations of concrete construction projects at a variety of customer sites. The Concrete Superintendent oversees concrete crews, subcontractors, schedules, safety, quality, and production to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
The Concrete Superintendent serves as the primary field representative for SEG and is responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional work environment through proactive communication, leadership, problem solving, and coordination with project stakeholders. This position reports directly to the Field Operations Manager or Project Manager and may oversee one or more Foremen and multiple crews.
Essential Functions of the Concrete Superintendent
Must have the physical ability and stamina required to safely navigate active construction sites and perform site inspections in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, dust, and noise. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, climb ladders, traverse uneven terrain, and occasionally lift or carry materials up to 50 pounds. Must possess the ability to operate construction equipment, tools, and technology required to effectively manage field operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee daily field operations for concrete construction projects.
- Coordinate and supervise concrete crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
- Create and manage short-interval schedules and proactively identify potential delays or conflicts.
- Review project drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals to ensure proper execution of work.
- Conduct daily site inspections to monitor workmanship, safety compliance, and project progress.
- Ensure proper installation of formwork systems, reinforcing steel, anchor bolts, embedded items, and concrete placement operations.
- Oversee layout, forming, pouring, finishing, and curing activities.
- Monitor manpower, productivity, and production goals to maintain project budgets and schedules.
- Maintain daily reports, timecards, schedule updates, field documentation, and correspondence.
- Coordinate inspections and ensure all required documentation is maintained.
- Lead safety meetings and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite environment.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Assist with project planning, bidding support, and project closeout activities as needed.
- Mentor and develop Foremen and field personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in concrete construction with progressive leadership responsibility.
- Previous experience supervising concrete crews, subcontractors, and field operations required.
- Experience with structural concrete, site concrete, formwork systems, rebar installation, and concrete placement operations.
- Experience with gang form systems such as Meva, Peri, Doka, Symons, or similar preferred.
- Government construction experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and Statements of Work (SOW).
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and safety procedures.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and construction-related software.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Must be willing and able to travel to various job sites throughout VA, MD, DC, and WV.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain required security clearances and site access credentials for government projects.

Work Environment:
This role involves working on active construction sites, traveling to multiple project locations, and occasionally working in office settings. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, construction noise, dust, heavy equipment, and other typical construction site hazards.
